Lady Netters Earn Second Consecutive Sweep

The Oglethorpe University women's tennis team defeated Spartanburg Methodist on Downing Howell Courts on Friday afternoon, 9-0. It was the Stormy Petrels' second consecutive sweep of an opoponent after duplicating the feat against Piedmont earlier this week.

Oglethorpe got off to a fast start by claiming all three of the doubles matches with the combinations of Alison Burt - Jayme Danielson (8-1), Sarah Beth Britt - Molly Colvard (8-0) and LaDonna Barnes - Kimberly O'Dell (8-0) each winning easily.

The Petrels carried their momentum into the singles play as Danielson (6-0, 6-0), Britt 6-0, 6-0), Colvard (6-0, 6-0), Burt 6-0, 6-0), Sarah Duff (6-1, 6-0) and Kimberly O'Dell (6-1, 6-0) each earned victories in that order.

Oglethorpe is now 4-4 on the season and will travel to Orlando to face Otterbein on March 23 to begin a series of spring break matches.
