    The SAA named every spring sports senior student-athlete an SAA Player of the Week Monday. A total of 24 Stormy Petrel student-athletes earned the honor.

    The Southern Athletic Association announced the suspension of the 2020 spring sports season Friday morning. After Friday, March 20, all conference competition, spring championships and postseason awards will be suspended.

    The Oglethorpe baseball team suffered a tough finish to their 3-game SAA series against the Centre Colonels Sunday afternoon, falling 10-0 in eight innings at Gary Wright Field in Danville, Kentucky. The defeat dropped the Stormy Petrels to 4-11 overall and 1-5 in SAA play.
  • Baseball splits Saturday doubleheader with Centre

    The Oglethorpe baseball team played a pair of tight games against the Centre Colonels in Danville, Kentucky, Saturday, winning the second 3-2 after falling 7-6 on a walkoff hit in the opener. The results moved the Stormy Petrels to 4-10 on the season overall and 1-4 in SAA play.
  • Baseball sees series wiped out by forecast rain

    The Oglethorpe baseball team saw their scheduled two-game series against Pfeiffer postponed this week due to forecast rain. The visiting Falcons were set to play the Stormy Petrels Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon.
  • Baseball swept by Berry in doubleheader

    The Oglethorpe baseball team suffered a tough day Saturday at Anderson Field, falling to the visiting Berry Vikings in both games of a doubleheader. The Stormy Petrels Game 1, scheduled for nine innings, 12-1 in seven after Berry activated the 10-run role for the second straight game. They they fought hard in Game 2, scheduled for seven innings, but lost 5-4 in nine. The pair of defeats dropped Oglethorpe to 3-9 on the season overall and 0-3 in SAA play.
  • Baseball falls to Berry 13-3 in SAA opener

    The Oglethorpe baseball team fell to the visiting Berry Vikings 13-3 in their SAA opener Friday afternoon at Anderson Field, allowing 11 runs over the first four inning en route to an eight-inning defeat. It dropped the Stormy Petrels to 3-7 on the season overall and 0-1 in SAA play.
  • Baseball falls behind early en route to 15-4 defeat at LaGrange

    The Oglethorpe baseball team fell behind in the first inning Wednesday evening and never could recover in a 15-4 defeat at LaGrange. The loss dropped Oglethorpe to 3-6 on the season.
  • Baseball sweeps doubleheader from DePauw

    The Oglethorpe baseball team won a pair of games over the DePauw Tigers, their former rivals out of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, Sunday at Anderson Field. They defeated the visitors 10-3 in the opener and 5-3 in the nightcap to improve to 3-5 on the young season.
  • Baseball schedule changes for the weekend

    The Oglethorpe baseball team's schedule changed again due to the relentless wet weather for the Atlanta area during the month of February. Friday's previously scheduled game against former Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foe DePauw has been postponed due to wet grounds at Anderson Field and will be made up as part of a doubleheader Sunday. The Stormy Petrels and Tigers will get together starting at 11 a.m. Sunday from Anderson Field and will then play the second game of the twin bill approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first. The two teams had been scheduled to play a single game Sunday at 1 p.m.
  • Baseball continues offensive struggles in 4-1 loss at Piedmont

    The Oglethorpe baseball team fell 4-1 to the in-state Piedmont Lions in Demorest Wednesday night, dropping to 1-5 on the young season. The Stormy Petrels recorded only six hits in the contest, none of them for extra bases. Oglethorpe pitching held Piedmont to just six hits, also, but three of those were for extra bases.
  • Tuesday baseball game moved to Wednesday

    The previously scheduled Oglethorpe baseball game against the Piedmont Lions in Demorest, Georgia, set to take place on Tuesday has been rescheduled due to rain. The game will now be played Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
  • Greensboro pulls away from baseball late, wins 19-4

    The Oglethorpe baseball team hung with the visiting Greensboro Pride for much of the game on the final day of the Rawlings Southern Classic Sunday afternoon at Anderson Field. However, Greensboro pulled away late with 15 runs over the final four innings, including 6 in the ninth, en route to a 19-4 victory. The defeat dropped the Stormy Petrels to 1-4 on the young season.
  • Baseball falls to Ferrum 9-4 in Rawlings Southern Classic

    The Oglethorpe baseball team came into Saturday?s matchup against the Ferrum Panthers looking to build on a strong 8-3 victory Friday night over Greenville. The home side battled, but were unable to complete a late comeback, falling 9-4 to the visitors.
  • Baseball nabs 8-3 win over Greenville to begin Rawlings Southern Classic

    The Oglethorpe baseball team picked up its first victory of the season Friday evening at Anderson Field, besting the visiting Greenville Panthers 8-3 on the first day of the Rawlings Southern Classic. The Stormy Petrels tallied five runs in the second inning to take control of the game, then held on via outstanding pitching for the five-run victory.

    The Oglethorpe baseball team had a tough day to open their season Sunday afternoon at Anderson Field, falling to the visiting Maryville (Tennessee) Scots in a pair of contests, 9-5 and 9-2. The Stormy Petrels led early in the first game, but a 4-run fifth inning turned the tables in the Scots' favor for that contest and they continued the momentum into Game 2.
  • Baseball season opener canceled by wintry weather

    The season-opener for the Oglethorpe baseball team will have to wait until Sunday, as the Stormy Petrels and Maryville (Tennessee) Scots were snowed out Saturday at Anderson Field. The game will not be made up, but the two teams will face off at Anderson Field in a previously scheduled doubleheader Sunday beginning at noon.
