  • SAA suspends remainder of 2019-20 season

    The Southern Athletic Association announced the suspension of the 2020 spring sports season Friday morning. After Friday, March 20, all conference competition, spring championships and postseason awards will be suspended.

  • Cross country teams earn coaches' all-academic honors; Villa takes individual all-academic accolades

    The Oglethorpe men's cross country team received multiple academic awards from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) this week, as the team was named an all-academic squad and senior Mateo Villa earned individual all-academic honors. It marked the first such award of Villa's career.

    The Oglethorpe women's cross country team finished seventh Saturday at the SAA Cross Country Championships in Mount Berry, tallying 202 points for the meet. They finished with an average time of 28 minutes, 51 seconds on the 6-kilometer course.

    The Oglethorpe men's cross country team finished second Saturday morning at the Berry Invitational in northwest Georgia. The Stormy Petrels showed well in their final tune-up before the SAA Championships, scoring 66 points and besting every team in the field other than regional power Emory, including Division I Chattanooga and SAA foes Berry, Sewanee and Millsaps.

    The Oglethorpe women's cross country team finished 12th out of 21 teams Saturday at the Foothills Invite in Oxford, Alabama, finishing second among Division III competition. The Stormy Petrels accumulated 358 points to finish two spots below Birmingham-Southern and four spots ahead of LaGrange.
  • Men's cross country reserves finish second at Sewanee Invitational; Brummett finishes sixth among women

    The men's cross country reserves finished second Saturday at the Sewanee Invitational in Tennessee, accruing five top 10 finishes on the morning. In addition, freshman Sarah Brummett finished sixth among 25 runners in the women's 6-kilometer race.
  • Cross country gets season started at JSU Strut's meet

    The Oglethorpe cross country teams got their seasons off to solid starts Friday night at the JSU Strut's Season Opener, hosted by Jacksonville State in Oxford, Alabama. The men's team finished fourth at the meet, coming in ahead of Division I schools Troy, Mercer, Alabama State and Jacksonville State. The women's team saw two of their four runners finish in the top 70 of the field, with freshman Sarah Brummett earning a spot in the top half of the women's field.
